Established in 1999, this program was approved as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program in 2021. It hosts one of China’s first National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Courses and a Beijing Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center.

Guided by the educational principles of "cultivating ethics, engineering excellence, and innovative integration," the program addresses the critical demands of new quality productive forces and the next-generation information technology industry. It focuses on intelligent information processing and communication technologies, emphasizing interdisciplinary integration with digital economy, mobile internet, and light industry/food sectors. The curriculum strengthens engineering innovation and practice while fostering well-rounded development of students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies in the context of emerging engineering disciplines.

Based on serving the major national strategies and the development needs of the capital's economy and society, this major aims to cultivate high-level outstanding talents who have a high sense of social responsibility, good humanistic qualities and professional ethics, a broad international vision, strong innovative thinking and lifelong learning abilities, and are capable of engaging in theoretical research, technical application, product development and engineering management in the fields of communication and intelligent information processing.

Currently, the program has 13 dedicated faculty members, with 92% holding senior titles, including 1 doctoral supervisor, 12 master's supervisors, 3 postdoctoral researchers, and 3 faculty members with overseas study experience. Multiple faculty members have been honored with titles such as Educational Role Model in Beijing's Education System, Beijing Higher Education Outstanding Educator, Beijing Outstanding Teacher, My Esteemed Professor in Beijing Students' Union, and Beijing Middle-aged and Young Backbone Teacher.
